High Italian Kicks, Crocus, Brandon MB

Jordan, grade 10, got these on a school trip to Italy. She was looking for high tops and found them there. She doesn’t care about the name brand and doesn’t know what these are.
Ugliest Kicks Ever, FW Johnson, Regina SK

Alie, grade 11. Works at an insurance company, front desk. Wears these to work. Someone at work commented on her kicks:
“Those have to be the ugliest shoes I’ve ever seen.”
Why would she say that?
“Cuz she’s old.” (Alie laughs) “And out of date.”
Glen Hansard & Marketa Irglova - Falling Slowly (from the Once OST)
—co-sign for reals. This song makes my face wet.
Mixed-Lace Kicks, Lindale, Moose Jaw SK

Raelynn, grade 6. Why she chose these kicks?
I dunno, I guess I just liked them.
Simple enough.
Draven Kicks, Waldeck, Waldeck SK

Miranda, grade 8, got these Dravens for $25 in Hawaii when she was with her parents on their anniversary. Before today I’d never heard of Dravens. Now I’m contemplating these, on sale now for $45.90.
NON-GIRLY-GIRL KICKS, BEDFORD, SASKATOON SK

Lorissa wears these Vans because she noticed no one wears them. They’re kind of unique. Plus she’s not a girly-girl so she’d never wear ballet flats or heels or anything like that. Actually she’s pretty competitive and is totally into wrestling and UFC and stuff like that…her fave is the champ, Brock Lesnar.

There’s only one other girl who’s as competitive as she is during wrestling at school – her friend Cassandra, and their coach always has to separate them when they’re playing on teams because she and Cassandra are the most aggressive.
Blue Suede Kicks, McKitrick, Saskatoon SK

Name: Amber
Grade: 7
Why these shoes: “They stood out I guess”. Um, YEAH they stand out. And I LOVE them. Oh, and Amber did you know about this? Custom Etnies??

I bet you did Amber. I bet you know all about this. I honestly wonder how different my life would have been if I had access (and money) for something like this back when I was obsessing about my kilt at Sacred Heart Catholic High in Newmarket, Ontario.
I think my life would be very different, Amber. VERY DIFFERENT.
Talking Kicks, Cut Knife, Cut Knife SK

Normally I look at the kicks of students. But I couldn’t ignore these. The teacher at Cut Knife said when she was in B.C. these spoke to her.
I hear that.
Sparkles in my closet, Macklin, Macklin SK

Name: Jessy.
Grade: Nine.
Hair colour: Red.
Why she wears these kicks: Mom got them for a formal event when Jessy said she didn’t want to wear heels.
What she wants to do with her life: Get into music.
Music she listens to: Eminem, Dr. Dre, Tupac.
Straight gangsta yo…
