House of Dereon kicks on Achol, Bishop Kidd Jr., Calgary AB
Achol is a Dinka girl originally from Khartoum, Sudan. Dinka people are an ethnic group in South Sudan, where civil war raged for over 20 years. It’s also a place where many girls are made to marry early and forgo school - the exact reason why we were at Achol’s school.
I learned there are a lot of Sudanese kids living in South Calgary.
